The Karcher K3 Follow Me is designed for people who want a lightweight, compact pressure washer that they can move around without difficulty and with little effort. It also claims to be the bestselling pressure washer of Karcher in the market. This pressure washer is named after its ability to “follow you” as you clean your home and cars, ensuring that it doesn’t tip over.
This electric power washer can be moved around with its wheels and extended hose. It performs cleaning tasks on large flat surfaces, including the tiniest corners, to remove stubborn dirt from delicate surfaces.
It boasts a convenient and compact design for most household jobs. Weighing only 21.2 lbs, this power washer is easy to move around and store in the garage when not needed. This feature, unfortunately, is the major drawback of K3 Follow Me.
Karcher K3 Pressure Washer Review In Detail
The Body
The first thing you’ll notice with the K3 Pressure Washer is its awesome construction and design. It has a 4-wheeled design and has the body of a mini pickup truck, which looks like a cool machine for doing yard work, to be honest.
The disadvantage, however, is that the materials are composed of plastic. The Karcher K3 Follow Me includes an adjustable spray wand paired with the hose and attached to its body. The Vario Power spray wand allows you for quick adjustment between low-pressure water washing and high-pressure steam cleaning. With a maximum pressure of 1800 PSI, this K3 electric pressure washer operates on standard electricity.
The wand is attached to the hose, and this is how the K3 Follow Me will follow you around. To give you that all-around versatile cleaning experience, you’ll need to drag the K3 body along by pulling the hose and wand.
The trouble starts here. If you’re going to pull the pressure washer around with you, how long will it last under all that strain of pulling the body with the hose and wand?
Admittedly, its 21-pound weight makes it very easy for this pressure washer to topple over, even more so if you’re dragging it around. I don’t think it’s safe to say that this will withstand heavy wear over time. The plastic materials are not going to hold up well against all the strain. It seems to me that this would have been better with a metal body.
Backend Cartridge
Another design drawback is that its backend cartridge is made of plastic and is somewhat elevated than standard pressure washers. This small and compact plastic cartridge is where you attach the garden hose directly.
The problem with the dainty cartridge is that it will constantly deal with the strain of the weight of the hose because of the elevated cartridge. I can almost bet that this will start to wear down with continuous use, especially when you consider it made from plastic.
It is common knowledge that most household hoses are vinyl or rubber, which are relatively weighty. Thus, when you’re tugging on the wand and connecting this huge hose to the cartridge, it’s natural to be concerned about K3 Follow Me’s durability.
This electric power washer has a maximum pressure of 1800 PSI, comparable to a gas-powered pressure washer. But despite the incredible power it delivers, its plastic components may ultimately cause problems over time.
I tried it for myself, and there is a significant amount of water leaking from the cartridge to the hose. It may as well be a waste of water.
Lance
The lance is an essential accessory attached to the wand during the process of pressure washing. The lance also has a sprays nozzle attached, which is adjustable to any degree, from high-pressure cleaning to low-pressure cleaning. This enables you to clean different surfaces at your own pace.
Unfortunately, the lance is made from plastic as well, and it doesn’t fit in well with the wand. The lance is actually the first thing to give you problems when starting up your pressure washer. It will take several attempts before it stays attached to the wand, which can be quite frustrating.
Also, the lance tends to flop about when you pull or press the wand’s trigger. This can be a problem because even if you were to use the product very little, it would still affect its durability and strength as time goes on.
Another concern is the connection of the foam cannon to the lance. It looks flimsy, and having a filled foam cannon will put all the pressure on the shaky lance that might blend or flex during the process.
The pressure from the lance will be so much that eventually, there could possibly be a leak in between the connection of the foam cannon and lance. The fix? To make sure that you never fill up your foam cannon completely, or else, this might be a problem.
If you’re using this product for long enough, I can almost guarantee that there will be some wear and tear at the lance after extended use. This is one of the biggest downfalls of this electric pressure washer because no part should really break when you’re spending around $200 for a product.
Performance-wise, the Karcher K3 Follow Me is not top-notch among cleaning units in the market. It’s not as powerful as gas pressure washers, and neither does it have the maximum pressure like most electric pressure washers. However, the material of this power washer is the most significant drawback.
It has yet to be proven whether its plastic material is sturdy enough to sustain prolonged usage over time. The power cord can’t be retracted inside the body, so you’ll have to leave it sitting out in the open all the time, which may not be feasible for some people.
The hose seems to me as if it will also toll this pressure washer’s durability. Overall, I feel this pressure washer is too much of a hassle to use.
It’s difficult for me to recommend the Karcher K3 Follow Me. This may not be the best choice if you’re looking for electric washers for an effortless cleaning experience. The “Follow Me” pressure washer should also follow me back to the store where I bought it.
